Questions or concerns? Reading this Privacy Notice will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. We are responsible for making decisions about how your personal information is processed. SUMMARY OF KEY POINTS

This summary provides key points from our Privacy Notice, but you can find out more details about any of these topics by using the table of contents below.

What personal information do we process? We process information you provide to run a family reading journal: account details, child profiles you add, reading logs, and optional photos. Learn more in Section 1.

Do we process any sensitive personal information? We process children’s personal information that a parent or caregiver enters (for example a child’s first name, age or birthday, and optional photo). Optional holiday or heritage preferences may also reveal cultural background. We do not use this information to advertise to children. Learn more in Sections 1 and 1A.

Do we collect any information from third parties? We do not buy personal information from data brokers. We may look up book details (title, author, cover) from public catalogs using an ISBN or title, not a child’s name.

How do we process your information? To provide, sync, and improve the journal; personalize book suggestions; run optional Pro librarian features; process App Store purchases; communicate with you; protect the Services; and comply with law.

In what situations and with which parties do we share personal information? With service providers who help us operate ReadiBean (for example Apple, Google Sign-In, our database host, and, only if you use a Pro librarian feature, an AI provider). We do not sell personal information and we do not show advertising to children.

How do we keep your information safe? We use organizational and technical measures. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

What are your rights? Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal information. Parents can review and delete a child’s profile and journal data in the app or by emailing us.

How do you exercise your rights? Use Settings → Privacy & Data in the app, or email support@readibean.app.

1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

Personal information you disclose to us

In Short: We collect personal information that you provide to us.

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you register on the Services, add family members, keep a reading journal, use optional features, or contact us.

Personal Information Provided by You. Depending on how you use ReadiBean, this may include:

Sensitive Information. When necessary, with your consent or as otherwise permitted by applicable law, we process:

We do not use sensitive information to advertise to children or to infer unrelated characteristics about a child.

Payment Data. If you subscribe or buy a pack, payment is handled and stored by Apple. We receive subscription and purchase status, not your full card number. See Apple’s privacy notice: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.

Social Login Data. You may register with Apple or Google. We receive the profile information described in Section 7.

Application Data. If you grant permission, we may collect:

All personal information you provide must be true, complete, and accurate. Please update it when it changes.

Information from public catalogs

To fill in a book’s title, author, and cover, we may query public catalogs using an ISBN or title. Those lookups are not tied to a child’s name.

Google API

Our use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

1A. HOW DO WE TREAT CHILDREN’S INFORMATION?

In Short: ReadiBean is for parents and caregivers. We do not require a child to create an account.

The signed-in adult is the account holder. Child profiles exist so the journal can be age-right. We collect a child’s information only when a parent or caregiver enters it.

We do not sell children’s personal information. We do not show advertising to children. We do not use children’s reading data for targeted advertising.

A parent or caregiver can review, correct, or delete a child’s profile and journal in the app (including Settings → Privacy & Data) or by emailing support@readibean.app. Deleting the app from a device does not by itself delete a signed-in cloud account.

2. HOW DO WE PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?

In Short: We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, communicate with you, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law. We may also process your information for other purposes only with your prior explicit consent.

We process personal information:

3. WHAT LEGAL BASES DO WE RELY ON TO PROCESS YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

In Short: We only process personal information when we have a valid legal reason to do so under applicable law.

If you are located in the EU or UK, this section applies to you.

We may rely on:

If you are located in Canada, this section applies to you.

We may process your information with your express or implied consent, or where Canadian law permits processing without consent (for example fraud prevention, legal process, or other exceptions similar to those listed in standard Canadian privacy notices).

4. WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

In Short: We share information with service providers who operate ReadiBean for us, and in the limited situations below. We do not sell personal information.

Community book ratings, if you participate, are stored as an anonymous or account-linked vote on a book — not as a child’s profile.

5. WHAT IS OUR STANCE ON THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES?

In Short: We are not responsible for third-party sites or apps you open from ReadiBean (for example a bookstore or library listing).

ReadiBean may open a specific website to help you get a paper book. Those sites have their own policies. We do not operate an in-app web browser for general surfing. The inclusion of a link is not an endorsement.

6. DO WE OFFER ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE-BASED PRODUCTS?

In Short: Optional Pro features may use AI. They are not required to keep a journal.

When you use a Pro librarian feature, we send the minimum book and journal facts needed for that job to an AI provider (including OpenAI) through our backend. Do not include information in notes that you would not want processed for that feature.

How to opt out. Do not use Pro librarian features, or cancel your subscription in Apple subscriptions. You can also delete journal notes or your account in Settings → Privacy & Data.

7. HOW DO WE HANDLE YOUR SOCIAL LOGINS?

In Short: If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the profile information those providers share with us (typically name and email).

We do not offer Facebook or X login. We do not control how Apple or Google use your information. Review their privacy notices and your account settings on those services.

8. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?

In Short: We keep it while you have an account, unless a longer period is required by law.

When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal information from active systems. Backups may persist for a limited time until they rotate. We may retain limited records to prevent fraud, debug issues, or meet legal requirements.

9. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?

In Short: We use reasonable technical and organizational measures. No system is 100% secure.

Transmission of personal information to and from the Services is at your own risk. Use the Services in a secure environment and keep your device and account sign-in protected.

10. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?

In Short: Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, or restrict processing of personal information, and to object or withdraw consent.

In the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and Canada, these rights may include access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection to certain processing. If a solely automated decision produces legal or similarly significant effects, we will explain the main factors and offer a way to request human review.

EEA/UK complaints: your local data protection authority or the UK ICO. Switzerland: the FDPIC.

Account information. In ReadiBean, go to Settings → Privacy & Data to export your journal or delete everything we store for your account. You can also email support@readibean.app.

After a deletion request we remove information from active databases. We may keep limited records as described in Section 8.

11. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES

There is no uniform standard for Do-Not-Track (DNT) browser signals. We do not currently respond to DNT signals. If a standard is adopted that we must follow, we will update this notice. California requires this disclosure: we do not respond to DNT signals at this time.

12. DO UNITED STATES RESIDENTS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?

In Short: Residents of certain US states may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, and to opt out of sale, sharing for targeted ads, or certain profiling. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
